Assistants to the King is the twenty-second chapter of the Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine manga.
Heine decides to give Bruno and Leonhard a special lesson: assisting their father with his duties. They help out with paperwork, and then go with the king to the audience chamber to receive audiences. They watch as the king listen to problems brought up by people of various social statuses. Leonhard is overwhelmed and worried that his father will never praise him. Just then, the final audience of the day, Marie Grass, comes in. She's the owner of a fabric shop who wants to borrow money from the kingdom to fix it up so that she can sell lace that she made herself. She couldn't afford it herself and the other businesses didn't have any money to spare. The king refused her request as the laws didn't allow lending money to private businesses, but Leonhard comes up with the idea of having the shops in Marie's neighborhood pool together money every month for situations like this. He also asks to buy her lace for his sister. The king praises Leonhard coming up with the idea of insurance, something he'd also like to discuss on a national level. Heine and Bruno praises him as well, but later at night, Bruno is distressed over Leonhard's increasing proximity to the throne.
